UPDATE: ALL Non-MMA stuff is now going on my other website, www.rearnakedsmoke.info. This one is .com, the new one is .info. Couldn’t be simpler.
This is Mark Bradley’s album, “Extraordinary”. And as best as I can tell, this is the only place that you’re gonna find this album. And that’s a shame, because it’s beautiful. It’s raw, a lot of the songs were poorly recorded, but in a lot of ways, that kinda adds to its charm. Unfortunately, I don’t know much at all about Mark Bradley. A Googling of him brings up only a long defunct MySpace page which has this bio.
“This is for Mark Bradley (1965-1994), central New Jersey singer-songwriter, leader of ramshackle bands, whirlwind, chef, and all-around great guy. From 4-tracks recorded in his bedroom while a young lad, to melodic folk-rock with Greater Faith, to lunatic improvs with Walt Whitman’s Beard, Mark did everything with passion and intelligence.”
That’s all I can find. I live here in Central Jersey, right where he lived and died, and I have yet to meet anyone who has ever heard of Mark Bradley, or his music. I came across this album via my Father, shortly before he died, and I never found out who he got it from. I’ve never seen it for sale anywhere.
But it has become one of my personal favorite albums, so I figured that I’d put it out there for people to hear. I couldn’t possibly categorize this music, there’s some jam band in there, folk rock at times, shades of acoustic Bradley Nowell (Promethean Man), even a Rancidesque bass line in “Daddy-O”. It’s all over the place. I don’t own the rights this music, nor do I claim to. And I’m certainly not looking to disrespect Mark at all, so if anyone out there has a legitimate claim to this album, let me know. I’d love to know more about Mark and his music.
